How To Spell American English Correctly
Travelling is the transfer of individuals between different, usually remote geographical locations. Travelling can be done by bicycle, foot, car, train, plane, boat, truck or any other mode of transport, with or without baggage, and is one way or round trip travelling. There are many ways to travel and some of the more popular modes of travel include air travel, rail transport, road travel, sea travel, and land travel. Travelling by land requires planning and the use of maps. Rail transport on the other hand is an easier mode of travel due to its convenience and comfort as well as the ease of loading and unloading the train at a given point.
There are many different ways to define what travelling is. By definition, travelling is a continuous process of motion that cannot be recorded or stopped at any point in time. A person who is travelling may be in a vehicle, cycling, walking, skating, flying, hiking, cycling, riding a horse or any other animal, or simply strolling. The various types of travelling mentioned here require different equipment for the traveller and they all have their pros and cons, for example travelling by bicycle requires special gears but if one does not know how to use a bicycle then this could pose a problem while travelling.
When people were first asked what their preferred spelling for travelling is, most would spell it the way it is commonly known by most people today, i.e. “travellling” or “tow-elling”. In order to avoid confusion when using Travelling with the spelling Travelling, many English speaking countries have adopted a standard spelling that is commonly used in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth nations such as Australia and New Zealand and also the United States of America.
When the spelling is changed to “tow-elling” people tend to have problems with the stress falls. When using American English, when a traveller mentions leaving and arriving at a certain destination, the stress falls on the end of the word and is pronounced “ah-weel”. When traveling vs. travelling it is much easier to remember the word Travelling when it is spelled with the emphasis on the “t” and the “l”. For example “I am going to drive the long distance to get here.”
If you are a person who likes to plan things before hand, then the idea of planning and traveling together makes perfect sense. Travelling can often become a routine that we do without much thought as it is only so long and there are always two things to consider when travelling, your destination and your accommodation. A person who travels regularly has some kind of schedule and knows when he/she will be at his/her destination. If you are a person who likes to take spur of the moment decisions, then taking a trip out of the country is probably not a good idea. On your trip you should consider all your options and know that you can always come back to make the necessary changes.
